Althea Korea Gold Sparkling Box Haul and Review

I received another Althea box last December just before the holiday started. I was so occupied with all the gatherings and activities lined up for the busiest month of the year that it took me quite a while to finish reviewing the products that I got. You know how I always want to use the products first-hand before I post something about it here on my blog. So there, finally, I’m ready for the write-up!

If you are still not familiar with Althea, it is an online shopping website dedicated to all K-Beauty fans out there. Their products are directly shipped from Korea which makes you certain of the authenticity of the products they sell. They ship not just in the Philippines but internationally as well. That’s how accessible K-Beauty products can be through Althea.

Althea Korea Gold Sparkling Box Haul and Review 2

Althea Boxes are limited edition, theme-based boxes for K-Beauty fans. Althea team releases two boxes each month giving their fans a chance to get their hands on a mix of K-Beauty favorites. There is no subscription required, just buy whenever you feel like it. But remember that boxes are in limited quantity and most of the times are easily sold out.

[Holiday Edition] Gold Sparkling Box

The Holiday Edition Gold Sparkling Box is part of the three boxes released during the Holiday season. It contains 6 K-Beauty products amounting Php 1330.00. That’s 75% lesser than the original price of Php 5460.00 if you will get the items individually. Just like other Althea boxes, this is definitely a good deal! I like how fancy the box is knowing how much I’m in love with anything gold. Unfortunately, the box is already sold out as of writing. But the other two boxes named Black Sparkling Box and Red Sparkling Box are still up for grabs!

What’s in the Box?

Chica-Y-Chico – One Shot Eye Palette (Day Drink & Wine Burgundy)
Leaguertox – Gold Foil See through Illumination Mask
Petitfee – Gold & EGF Eye Spot Patch
Onsaemeein – Lumiere Gold Daily Cream (50ml)
Nakeup Face – C-Cup Lip Tox-tick (#03 Stealer)
Missha – Gold Snow Line Skincare Sample Kit

Onsaemeein Daily Cream (50ml)

Onsaemeein Lumiere Gold Daily Cream (50ml) 2

ONSAEMEEIN

Lumiere Gold Daily Cream (50ml)
Original Price: Php 730.00 | Sale Price: Php 480.00 | Where to buy? Click Here

Claims: Lumiere Gold Daily Cream contains 24k pure gold that makes shiny elastic skin. The two key ingredients are gold that helps protect and soothes the skin and propolis extract that cleanses toxic substance and at the same time protects and soothes the skin. The product also claims to help in whitening and wrinkle improvement as it strengthens elasticity of the skin.

Review: I have been using this product for a few weeks now as part of my night time skin care routine. I feel like its consistency is too thick to be used in the morning in a tropical country like ours. Nevertheless, it works perfectly during night time. My skin feels soft and moisturized the next day after applying it on my face – take my word for it! As mentioned, I’ve been using the product for weeks now and no breakouts so far which is great! The scent isn’t pleasing but tolerable. I actually don’t mind since I would just sleep the whole night with it on. You only need a small amount then gently press and spread all over your face. I can say that this product can last long which is a good deal for its price.

Petitfee Gold & EGF Eye Spot Patch 2

Petitfee Gold & EGF Eye Spot Patch

PETITFEE

Gold & EGF Eye Spot Patch
Original Price: Php 1080.00 | Sale Price: Php 460.00 | Where to buy? Click Here

Claims: Petitfee’s Gold & EGF Eye Spot Patch is made with black pearl collagen and gold powder, this luxurious eye mask is full of amino acids to help regeneration and purification to make the skin more plump and radiant, as well as provide anti-oxidizing and anti-aging effects to these delicate areas.

Review: This product is quite unique. The container has two types of patches, first are round-shaped patches then the other is U-shaped patches. The U-shaped patches are supposed to fit the undereye area but the shape isn’t that perfect to fit right there without much of a struggle. However, I love how the patches are hydrogel instead of the regular paper sheet. It helps stick to the skin longer, making the serum be absorbed better. My dark circles are still there, maybe the effect isn’t that drastic. But the puffiness of my eyes is visibly reduced. It has a cooling and relaxing effect, perfect to use before going to sleep to ease a tiresome day.

Chica-Y-Chico One Shot Eye Palette (Day Drink & Wine Burgundy)

CHICA Y CHICO ONE SHOT EYE PALETTE DAY DRINK

ONE SHOT EYE PALETTE WINE BURGUNDY

CHICA Y CHICO

One Shot Eye Palette (Day Drink & Wine Burgundy)
Original Price: Php 1490.00 | Sale Price: Php 580.00 | Where to buy? Click Here

Claims: The One Shot Eye Palette is consists of three types such as matte, shimmer, and glitter. It has six colors from base to point. The palette makes you create diverse makeup looks with vivid pigmentation, soft texture, and consistency.

Review: I have received not one but two palettes from the One Shot Eye Palette line. The first palette is called the Day Drink which consists of gold brown tones while the second one is called the Wine Burgundy palette which consists of wine burgundy tones of attractive colors. I had a love at first sight experience with the color combinations of both of the palettes. The colors are very me and the kind of colors you would most probably use on normal everyday errands or random night outs. I have already used both of the palettes last December when I attended a friend’s wedding. The packaging is basic. It doesn’t even have an attached mirror which can be a struggle if you’re on-the-go. However, I’m quite impressed with the pigmentation and longevity of these two and I’m not even kidding. Be careful with the glittery ones, they’re highly pigmented and you don’t want to mess up your eye makeup look by over-applying the glittery shade.

Nakeup Face C-Cup Lip Tox-tick (#03 Stealer)

Nakeup Face C-Cup Lip Tox-tick (#03 Stealer) 2

C Cup Lip Tox tick Stealer shade 03

Nakeup Face C-Cup Lip tox tick stealer shade 03

NAKEUP FACE

C-Cup Lip Tox-tick (#03 Stealer)
Original Price: Php 1200.00 | Sale Price: Php 660.00 | Where to buy? Click Here

Claims: Nakeup face C-Cup Lip Tox-tick has a silky velvet color that claims to plum up the lips and can last up to 27 hours on the lips. It’s a lip balm, lip plumper, lipstick and lip treatment in one. It contains rose hip fruit oil, macadamia seed oil, cocoa seed butter, and jojoba seed oil for smooth moisture coating layer.

Review: The shade that came in the box is named Stealer. It’s the third among the five shades of the C-Cup Lip Tox-tick line. The color looks reddish on the photo but it’s actually coral orange in actual. It has a minty feel when applied on the lips which I honestly not a fan of, but I don’t bother because the minty effect won’t stay long. I believe it supposed to help plump your lips (or not?). The scent is just okay and longevity is quite good. It’s not as pigmented as other lipsticks I have tried and can’t cover hyperpigmentation on my lips. However, the packaging is extra classy and the color is really nice. It suits morena skin tone well.

I haven’t had the chance to try the rest of the products yet. That’s the thing about testing out skin care products. You have to try them out one at a time so you would know the culprit of your breakout if there would be any. But I’m sure to be trying out the remaining ones and will let you know for sure. If not here on the blog, through my social media accounts.

MISSHA

Gold Snow Line Skincare Sample Kit

Claims: There are four products in line with this Gold Snow Line Skincare sample kit. Gold Snow Toner is a moisture gel toner formula that penetrates deep into the layers of the skin. Many Thanks 2017

I was checking my previous blog posts and felt bad realizing I didn’t write any year-end post last year. I guess it’s a good motivation to write a last minute blog post today. I know I have been so inactive but hey, I’m still alive and I won’t skip keeping some of my highlighted memories in words before this amazing year concludes in less than 24 hours. You know, 2017 has been so awesome not to share.

A Well-Traveled Year

2017 has been by far the most well-traveled year for me. This homebody girl went out and discovered beautiful places, took photos and fell in love with the art of packing light. I haven’t been to a lot of places but I’m slowly ticking off some on my list which is the best thing ever! I bought discounted plane tickets, booked accommodations, chilled in a tent, slept on a long road ride, nodded a go for last-minute trips, went on the flow, enjoyed life and its spontaneity. This year is when I fell in love with my tan A LOT more, caused by adventures I put myself into.

  • Camped at beautiful islands of Zambales – Agnaim Cove, Potipot, Anawangin and Capones Islands.
  • Jumped on a 40-ft high cliff in Mariveles, Bataan. Enjoyed the beach life at Puerto Galera which you guys have already been to but, the first time for me.
  • Boarded a plane away from the city to Boracay Island twice this year, toured around Cebu City, stepped my feet on the sand of Malapascua and braved my most highlighted adventure to date – canyoneering.
  • Went out of the country for the first time in my life with the whole fam! Singapore and Malaysia – checked!
  • Joined short distance travels with friends and family.

Of Self-Improvements

Every year we sure learn a thing or two. Some are big and some are small. These are the things that helped you grow and the same things that somewhat made you feel proud. I have mine to share too! I may not have achieved some of the goals I intended for this year, I’m still happy that a better me is the one moving to a brand new year. Today, I plan not to focus on my failures but on my tiny-little achievements.

  • Sported the shortest hair I’ve ever had since high school which I’ve long been wanting to do.
  • Put lots of courage to put myself out there through my Youtube Channel. Filmed videos, created content and improved my video editing skill. I’ve been inactive for the past few months but I’ll be back soon.
  • Tried selling stuff through facebook. I always wanted to do it but my shyness was eating me up. Selling wasn’t new to me as I had an IG shop before but only a few offline friends know about it cos again, I was shy. I might do it again soon if ever I come up with good products to sell and if time permits as well.
  • Led two outreach programs (feeding program for the kids) under an organization in my workplace. Helped create visually appealing email campaigns at work and have it sent to more than 6,000 email addresses. All of these I did on top of my normal operational work. It made working even more worthwhile!
  • Reconnected with friends. Made new friends.
  • Finally learned to apply full-face makeup through youtube tutorials. Yaaaay! The learning is underway but I’m quite happy that I can now do decent makeup looks on my own. I hit two birds in one stone by having to add another skill and saving extra money instead of hiring a professional MUA.
  • Improved my swimming skills! For a girl who’s loving the beach vibe, learning how to swim is a MUST. I’m slowly getting there y’all!
  • Got a driver’s license and can now drive without a company. It still needs practicing especially on busy roads but the point is, I now can! Driving is a very useful skill to have don’t you think?

Reasons to Give Thanks

If I will list all the names of people and events of my life that made my 2017 extra amazing, then I might not be able to finish writing in 2017. I’m rushing now, you guys! We still need to prepare for NYE. haha. But kidding aside, this year has just been filled with lots of happy things that I really wanted to be as detailed as I can but obviously can’t cos this is a public page which means I have to be vague for the most part.

  • To friends I have for keeps. You guys are the bomb! Thank you for sticking around. You know who you are.
  • To the people who sent appreciation on the things I do – vlog, blog, digital designs and anything creative, thank you loves! It may not look as if, but know that you made me kilig!
  • To the brands I worked with despite me being very inactive. They were only a few but I’m always grateful!
  • To the people I met online who share the same passion as I am, thanks a bunch for selflessly sharing what you guys know about this field and at the same time showing support to each and other. You guys are the best!
  • This is the year when Jhori and I hardly see each other but this is also the year when I grew so much as a person. I appreciate him respecting the time I have for my passion projects, myself, family and friends. We may not always together but we know we got each other’s backs no matter what.
  • I won’t miss thanking my fam. They’ve been there through everything!
  • I’m grateful for all the crazy adventures I had this year, the good and the bad ones combined (mostly good, though).
  • I thank the positive ball of energy within me that I can’t even recall any unhappy circumstances I had for this year, while I write this at least. I’m pretty sure there were, lots of them even. Being forgetful isn’t so bad after all.
  • I thank God for this genuine happiness. I thank Him for always guarding my heart and never letting me drown from any form of misery and sadness. I thank Him for helping me cope up from failures and self-doubt. I thank Him for providing everything I need through His ways. I survived this year because I’m so much loved and protected.

Now, that’s it! NYE is in 5-hour time as of writing and I’m holding onto my trust that 2018 will be filled with more exciting adventures, more amazing people and more achievements to tick off from my list! I hope to still see you all next year. 2018, let’s start!

beach trip must haves
This year is by far the most frequent I have been to the beach. I kicked off the year by camping in one of the beach gems found in the north and I continued to be fascinated at the sight of different islands as the months went on. This year I can proudly say, I fell in love with the beach even more. By that, it’s safe to say that I already came up with my own imaginary handy-dandy list of anything beach-related. So I thought, why not write it down? Hence, this blog post. I’m starting off with a quick list of my suggested must-haves on your next beach trip. Read on!

Light Clothing

If you want to master the art of packing light, you have to start by bringing a comfortable set of light clothing in your beach bag. Try to mix and match what you have, and choose fabrics that are thin and flowy such as chiffon blouse from Rosegal, any easy dress you like, or multi-way shirts.

Sunnies

Admit it, we all need this. Aside from adding style to your overall beach outfit, mirror sunglasses for women and men also help protect our eyes from UV rays. It’s important not only on sunny days but count cloudy days too. I know you have your favorite sunnies sitting in your drawer, then now’s the perfect time to put it to use!

Sun Protection

Aside from wearing sunnies, never ever skip applying sunscreen creams/lotion before hitting the waves. It’s always advisable to put on skin protection from the harmful rays of the sun. We all need this, whether you are fair or dark. Choose a sunscreen that’s at least contains SPF 30 and reapply every 2-3 hours if you can.

Scarf

Scarf isn’t always part of the usual must-have list when hitting the beach but I’m adding it to mine cos I’m a fan! I love how useful and versatile scarfs can be when going on a trip – a beach trip to be exact. I use it during the long road trip going to the destination, can be used as a cover-up, a substitute for roundies, or extra clothing piece when cold temperature hits.

Camera

Add up a camera to document everything! Need I say more? You may always use your mobile phone if a camera isn’t available. Just squeeze in your creative juices and your photos will for sure look stunning!

Althea Korea Born This Way Box

You can’t imagine my excitement when I received a call from Althea’s delivery contact that my box was right there outside waiting to be picked up. This was my first ever box from Althea Korea but, I’ve been hearing about this shop ever since it first came here in the Philippines. I wasn’t a fan of skin care or beauty products before, but now that I do, this box made super excited! I planned to do an unboxing video but I obviously failed, I was so giddy to open the box and see what I got inside. So, I settled on sharing the whole unboxing part through my Instagram’s story. I hope you were able to see that.

I actually uploaded a video prior to writing this blog post. If you prefer watching over reading then go check my video. But if you want more information and in-depth explanation, then keep reading y’all!

What’s in the Box?

Innisfee – Green Tea Cleansing Foam
Beuins – Nutrient Emulsion Skin
Max Clinic – Catrin Natural 100 Mineral Sunkill RX
3CE – Back to Baby Pore Velvet Primer
Aritaum – Mono Eyes Eye Shadow
Etude House – Dear Darling Ice Cream Water Gel Tint
Pure Smile – Art Point Pack
Dr Mind – Apot Red Mask

Innisfree Green Tea Cleansing Foam

INNISFREE

Green Tea Cleansing Foam
Original Price: Php 480.00 | Sale Price: Php 360.00 | Where to buy? Click Here

Claims: A gentle foaming cleanser infused with green tea extracts that keep the skin moisturized. It is rich in antioxidants and green tea that prevents your skin from aging and soothes damaged skin from UV rays.

Review: I’ve been using this product twice a day for a few weeks now. I’m not a fan of facial foams. I don’t like the dryness it leaves your skin with, after washing your face (at least, all the facial foams I tried from the past). As expected, this product also gave the same effect afterward but it’s not something that would convince me to totally ditch using the product. From the span of time that I’ve been using this, I noticed how fast it eliminated my pimples on random areas of my face. There were new pimps popping out and it helped reduce the inflammation plus, I didn’t breakout, fortunately! I don’t mind using this cleansing foam even after this review.

Beuins Nutrient Emulsion Skin

BEUINS

Nutrient Emulsion Skin

Claims: A lightweight moisturizer that nourishes, hydrates and improves elasticity for a healthy baby-like skin.

Review: I fell in love upon getting my hands on this product. The packaging looks very appealing to me and I bet even for the girly girls out there too. The bottle makes the product heavy, I suggest you transfer the moisturizer itself in a smaller container if you’re up for traveling and decided to pack-light. It has a light and watery consistency. It’s super runny so it’s just right that the bottle has a pump so you are still in control with the product. I’m using it twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. It’s not sticky, I’m even using it underneath my makeup and I didn’t have any problems with that at all. If there’s something I don’t like about this moisturizer, it’s the scent. The scent is not as girly-ish as how it looks like. I can’t exactly describe how it smells but it’s close to the scent of a lotion. Maybe, I’m just not used to the idea of having the lotion scent on my face rather than my body. If that’s not an issue for you, then this product is highly recommended.

Max Clinic Catrin Natural 100 Mineral Sunkill RX (12G)

MAX CLINIC

Catrin Natural 100 Mineral Sunkill RX
Original Price: Php 2,500.00 | Sale Price: Php 760.00 | Where to buy? Click Here

Claims: 100% natural mineral powder for an even skin tone and protects skin from UV rays.

Review: What I like best about this product is, it contains SPF 46 PA+++. You all know how much we need SPF in our lives especially for us, who are living in a tropical country. I fully understand how putting on sunscreen creams can be quite a chore, so this is a good alternative! Also, admit it that most of the sunscreens we have just doesn’t go well with our base makeup. That’s why I’m using BB creams as my go-to base makeup whenever I feel like putting on my makeup. The powder has a light brown color, not translucent. It matches well with my skin, so I didn’t have any problems with it. I had a hard time during my first usage of the product. If you watched my Youtube Review about this, you would know why. There are two layers from the bottle. The top part is the puff and the bottom part of for the powder. Tap the puff sufficiently on the back of your hand so contents are gradually layered. Spread on your face or body as it pushing.

Aritaum Mono Eyes Eye Shadow

3CE

Back to Baby Pore Velvet Primer

Claims: A tone-up primer that brightens your skin for a youthful glow.

Review: I only own a few primers, to begin with so, I didn’t have a lot of brands to compare this one with. My initial reaction when I first saw the primer from the box was, it’s too small! It only weighs 15g and it costs around Php 886.00 (not Althea’s price) which is pretty expensive for me, to be honest. I was already questioning if it was really a full-size product or not cos it was smaller than I expected. Upon application, I immediately noticed how smooth my face is and how it helped mattify my skin. It has a creamy texture that turns to a powdery texture afterward. It has a super nice scent, that fragrance similar to a baby powder. It creates a good base canvass as it covers pores and fine lines around your face. I absolutely love this product but I hope it’s bigger though.

ARITAUM

Mono Eyes Eye Shadow

Claims: The eyeshadow glides on seamlessly with single tough! Get a youthful look with this pinky coral color.

Review: I got the Mono Eyes Eye Shadow in coral squeeze shade which I believe is a perfect match for may morena skin tone. I don’t usually put on eye shadows cos I’m still in the process of learning. Although I haven’t practiced for a very long time now cos of too many things that occupy me. But this is a good addition to my very few eye shadow makeup. The color is perfect for every day, nothing bold. It has a matte finish and a little bit chalky so, be careful to not mess it up. The pigmentation is okay, not super pigmented, just okay. I’m not sure if this applies to all the mono eyes eye shadow shades. Cos normally, eye shadows vary pigmentation depending on the shade, even if they are in the same brand.

ETUDE HOUSE

Dear Darling Ice Cream Water Gel Tint

Claims: Create popsicle lips with this sweet tint that melts onto the lips for a pretty, long wearing stain.

Review: Let’s start this with a statement, “I love this product!”. The packaging already had captured my attention upon seeing it in the box. It’s so fun and cute. Kids may even mistake it as a toy or something. The fruity smell is so addicting, it’s longevity is great, it’s color is perfect. I had literally been using it every single day for one week straight. Before I got to try this product, I have been using tints as my everyday lip product for quite a while now. They’re super long-wearing plus, I’m too lazy to reapply every now and then. So, it’s not so surprising how I like this etude house gel tint.

Pure Smile Art Point Pack

I haven’t tried these two remaining products yet. I’m yet to see if they’re effective or not. But I’m betting the Pure Smile Art Point pack is a fun product to use cos of how fancy these point packs are. I just hope I won’t messed up putting those on my face. The DR Mind Apot Red mask is not really a part of the official products lined up for the Born This Way Box. It came as a freebie for the box, so lucky! This is going to be the very first time I will be using a red mask ever. Let’s see if I’ll like it or not.

PURE SMILE

Art Point Pack

Claims: Apply this paint pack pads to the desired areas for targeted hydration.

DR MIND

Apot Red Mask
Original Price: Php 230.00 | Sale Price: Php 140.00 | Where to buy? Click Here

Claims: A mask pack for intensive skincare on stressed, irritated skin.

That’s it! Overall, I just love this box so much and I’m amazed on how much discount you can get from purchasing the box instead of buying each of the product mentioned on this blog post. Again, it’s definitely a steal!

Hey guys, let’s talk about something fancy today. I recently discovered this online shopping website called Rosegal which is offering a wide selection of cute tops, casual dresses, affordable accessories and much more. I mentioned multiple times through this blog and through my other social media platforms how hooked I am to online shopping. Aside from the convenience I get, it also allows me to browse numerous online shops in one seating. That means canvassing of items became so much easier than ever.

What I like most about this shopping website is that they are offering free shipping internationally and their selection of plus-size apparels are abundant as well. This includes a wide variety of dresses and other apparels for different occasions.

My Personal Picks from Rosegal

Allow me to share these fab finds I saw while browsing through the website. These are the pieces I wouldn’t mind wearing on a casual day out or even at work. If I would describe my personal fashion style, it would be comfort and simplicity. I like dressing up depends on the occasion but most often than not, I would go to these kinds of clothing styles.

Skin aging is inevitable, that’s for sure. It’s something that we, both men and women may experience from our years of living. If only I realized that earlier in life, my love for skin care would have started a few years ago, who knows? But truth be told, it wasn’t the case for me. In fact, my skin started to develop fine lines and wrinkles at my early years which I’m guessing was caused by my natural-born skin condition.

I don’t have a nice skin condition, if I can be very honest about it. Apart from it being sensitive, I can also spot several flaws from here and there around my body. But as cliche as it may, I learned to love it wholeheartedly (#FLAWSOME) and I’m not even kidding. But that doesn’t mean I stopped hunting for things to improve my skin cos, I-DON’T. That was why, when SpectruMed invited me to try out ClearLift Treatment at Facets and Figures, I immediately gave it a go.

ClearLift Treatment

It was the very first time that I was able to try ClearLift Treatment – the first time I heard about it as well. You see, it’s a whole new treatment for me prior to this experience.

ClearLift is a non-ablative painless laser which helps with skin remodeling and skin lifting. It reduces the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles, making your skin tighter and more youthful looking. It can be done around the eye area, face, neck and body area depending on your preference. I had the ClearLift treatment on my face, in particular. One session costs Php 8,000.00 and varies depending on the affected skin area. They had it at 50% off last month and so far, there’s no announcements yet on when’s the next promotion is coming.

Treatment Process

ClearLift uses a non-ablative laser that reaches deep within your skin, thus, it’s strongly NOT recommended to those who are undergoing any type of skin peeling process. So, if you’re using any kind of whitening products, the chances of damaging your skin is quite high when combined with ClearLift. We definitely don’t want that to happen, do we? You may opt to call their contact number to seek advice or consult your dermatologist before taking the procedure. Remember that safety comes first more than anything else – this included.

If you don’t fall under the mentioned condition then, we’re ready! Again, the following are for the Face ClearLift Treatment process. Let’s start!

Step 1: Cleansing
Like any other usual facial services out there, we also started the overall ClearLift Treatment by cleansing. This was done by the Facets and Figures Beauty Therapist, so be comfortably relax while this step is being done. You don’t need to move a thing or so.

Step 2: Eyebrows Covering
After cleansing, the beauty therapist started covering my eyebrows. Explanation – ClearLift laser can damage your hair, making it appear lighter than how it actually was. It kinda freaked me out cos I have naturally dark and thick brows, FYI. But don’t worry, your brows are safe. Trust me. ~wink

Step 3: ClearLift
The last and final step was the laser part (see photo above). There was an electric static smell during this step but as per my beauty therapist, it was just normal due to my facial hairs (I’m hairy, that’s why). It also felt warm on the face especially on the nose area but it wasn’t really alarming at all, barely noticeable even. The therapist first did half of my face and let me checked the difference from the other half-side right after. Then, she went on to the other half after I gave a go.

The overall procedure took around 45 minutes to complete.

Facets and Figures ClearLift Blog Review
I only enhanced the brightness for clearer photos. (Look at my pimple marks! Yikes!)

Initial Result

I was happy with the initial result. I wasn’t even expecting to see immediate changes right after the first session, but to my surprise, IT DID! I noticed that my skin feels smoother – probably because of the skin tightening effect of the ClearLift treatment. It also helped lift my skin a bit which I only noticed when I got back home but, already noticeable on the photos above.

It really did reduce my fine lines, especially around my laugh lines and eye area. It’s hard to pinpoint where and what part of my face has the biggest effect so far cos, it wasn’t drastic enough to see that part. But overall, I absolutely like it! It’s nice that there are already visible effects seen immediately after the treatment. Comparing to other treatments, others would have to reach a certain number of sessions before any changes can be visible. For ClearLift, one session is enough to prove that something has happened. But if you aren’t satisfied, you may always avail several more sessions to achieve your desired effect, it all depends on you.

It was an absolutely nice experience to have! I enjoyed a lot! Thank you so much SpectruMed and Facets and Figures for inviting me!

Before you proceed on reading, let me say this first, THIS-IS-NOT-A-TRAVEL-GUIDE or anything the like. This is another travel diary about me, him, us and our first legit vacation together. Don’t worry, I’ll create a separate blog post for all useful things I can share including our expenses and whatnot cos I love y’all! But for now, I want to write freely and just share our story without any pressure and doing much research. So if we’re good at that, let’s start!

August 13, 2017

I worked from home and was on a graveyard shift the day before our Boracay trip so I had to rush things and catch our 9:45 AM flight going to Kalibo with literally no sleep. Jhori was already waiting when I finished packing. We headed straight to NAIA, ate breakfast and waited until our boarding time at the airport. Oh, did I tell you that this trip was also a celebration of our 5th year anniversary? Yep, sounds cheesy! lol! We celebrated our anniversary the next day which I’m happy to be sharing on my next blog post. So I hope you can stick around!

As per the title, this was our first legit trip together. When I say “legit”, it means it’s the very first time that we were able to go out of town without anyone accompanying us. Of course, we did several out-of-town day trips together but not exactly a “vacation trip”, if that’s how to call it. As of writing, we are already days more than 5 years together and people might wonder why it’s only now that we were able to cross this out from the usual couple list. Honestly, there’s no serious point or certain explanation for that question but maybe it’s only now that we were able to get an opportunity to finally do it. Besides, it wasn’t our goal back in college and there were a lot of more important things to prioritize even after graduating. You see, no certain reason at all.

Boracay Philippines blog

Our flight was booked early when AirAsia had its seat sale last year. I scored our round-trip tickets in less than Php 1,000 inclusive of tax. It was a pretty nice deal, don’t you think? I was really sleepy so I slept the whole plane and van ride until we reached the very beautiful Boracay island.

Boracay Philippines blog

It was my third time to visit Boracay while it was Jhori’s first. I was there last February with my friends and I can say that it was really a fun trip worth remembering. I actually blogged about it which you may read under my blog’s travel category. Same place but different experience, that I can attest. I honestly don’t mind going back to places I like with another company. It still feels exciting as if it was the first time. What more if it means spending the days with the person who makes my life extra amazing for the past 5 years? You know the answer.

Boracay Philippines blog

We didn’t have a pre-booked accommodation and thought it was fine because it wasn’t even a peak season, to begin with. Boracay wasn’t crowded as expected and we easily got an available room for an affordable rate. We checked in at Eriko’s House if you’re wondering. We paid Php 1,000.00 per night which was already quite affordable, considering that it was almost in beach front of Station 2. Location-wise, Eriko’s House is a good place to stay in if you’re looking for a budget-friendly accommodation.

We didn’t bother checking other accommodations when we saw that the room has the basic amenities that we needed. They also have available WiFi but the catch was, it was only available in the lobby. lol! The signal couldn’t reach our room so we had to stay in the lobby every time we wanted to go online and upload photos. It was irritating at first but we eventually thought it was okay so we would be forced to not look at our mobile phones every now and then. Guess what? It actually worked!

Boracay Philippines blog

Boracay Philippines blog

It was a chill kind of day for us, no activities to occupy us. We chose to walk around and fill our eyes with Boracay’s majestic view. We went to the beach after settling in our room and did what was needed to be done, picture-taking! I thank my camera’s timer for our photos taken together. Funny how I was so conscious about my hair. I didn’t bring my blow dryer and didn’t want to have a messy big hair on photos. I tried my best not to splash it with saltwater but I failed. I endured a messy big hair all throughout my stay in Boracay. It wasn’t as bad as I was imagining. It was okay, quite nice even.

Boracay Philippines blog

We were feeling hungry and couldn’t wait until after sunset to finally eat dinner. We decided to skip sunset watching and move it on the next day instead. We went back to our room right after dinner and I couldn’t help but fall asleep as soon as we return to our room. Can’t blame me, remember that I came straight from work prior to this trip? Yes, that explains. Jhori stayed awake while watching a movie. I’m not really sure if he slept too, though. But I’m guessing he did.

Boracay Philippines blog

I woke up at around 11:00 PM and decided to go outside to chill some more. We had a few drinks and snacks while enjoying each other’s company. I don’t like drinking alcoholic beverages, but that day I did. Cos hello, I was in Boracay, y’all! We were sitting near the seashore and it was just the perfect night to leave all our worries and anxieties back in Manila and just physically and mentality be there at that moment.

We talked as much as if we don’t talk a lot. We laughed as much as if we haven’t laughed as hard before. It was only our first day, yet I already felt the eagerness to travel more places, discover more foods and take more photos together. Cos that day I finally knew how it felt like to travel with the person who makes your days extra sparkly, sometimes annoying but mostly sparkly.

There are already tons of online shopping websites available today for almost everything you need. No doubt, online shopping has been a huge hit for this fast-paced world where everything is preferred done at your fingertips. Even brands that are physically available at your favorite shopping malls also offer online shopping services as a strategy to attract more customers. Cos of course, the more customer, the better. sanstyle at stylebest top 3

Women Boyfriend Ripped Ankle Jeans – Sure enough, this jeans is perfect for your lazy day outfit look. You can pull this off while wearing your dirty sneakers (talk about joining the dirty shoe trend) or even your favorite heels! Yes, not even kidding. You’ll equally look fab, either way, believe me.

Stripe A-line Dress Who else love to wear a dress when you’re simply not in the mood to mix and match pieces of clothes? You’re not alone. There are days I feel that way too. My solution? Wear a dress instead! I like this particular dress because of the button down detail. Plus, my wardrobe is mostly consist of the greys. It won’t hurt to add another grey, will it?

Crew Neck Sleeveless Dress Aaaaand another dress here! I’m thinking of pairing this black dress with a denim jacket. What do you think? For some reasons, I found myself liking long dresses like this recently. It’s a thing now, I believe. And even if it’s not, it still looks nice to me. wink

I have always been known as the low-maintenance girl. I was known to be that girl who doesn’t really care much about how messy-looking her hair was or how bushy her natural thick brows looked like. I can say, there’s still a part of that low-maintenance girl in me even up until this age. But there are inevitable changes that come along with maturity. Not only does the number gets higher or our perspectives in life redefine, but our physical attributes also change. Thus, adapting and enhancing are the things I saw myself embracing as these physical changes happen to myself.

I started caring about my skin and my overall physical self. I started getting hooked to watching skin care videos, makeup tutorials, and product reviews. With this, I decided to put extra attention to my blog’s beauty section while I share my experiences and my growth to this whole new learning venture of mine.

This post is marked as my first ever beauty-related blog post after revamping my blog’s beauty section and this one is dedicated to my newest favorite beauty online store in the Philippines, BeautyMNL. I was fortunate to be handpicked by their team to test run their shopping website and be able to check out their wide array of beauty products from both local and international brands. So who am I to decline that offer? Of course, I became so ecstatic in a snap!

BeautyMNL Haul Review

LA Palette Nudes Nude Beige

My overall shopping experience was so smooth and easy. Even the website itself was very user-friendly. There was a search bar at the top part of the interface for easy product searching. There were also category tabs for easy navigating. They are quite generous when it comes to promotions as well. They offer different kinds of promotions regularly for selected items. So make sure to always check their social media accounts to get notified.

I was so impressed with how fast their delivery time took place. I received my parcel in less than 24 hours after I hit the order button. Let me repeat that, LESS THAN 24 HOURS, YOUUUU GUUUYS! Delivery time is really something to me when it comes to online shopping cos admit it, we don’t like waiting! It may vary depending on your location but as for the Metro Manila peepz, we can possibly get the items as early as less that 24 hours just like mine. Except during weekends and holidays, of course.

Now, let’s check out each of the products I got from BeautyMNL.

Skin Genie Anti EYEging – PHP 150.00

Skin Genie Anti EYEging

Skin Genie Anti EYEging is a soothing and moisturizing eye cream with a roller tip. Skin Genie is a local brand and I heard many good reviews about this brand already. #supportlocal To be honest, this is the first time that I ever used an eye care product (if that’s how to call it). I absolutely love the scent, it adds up to the relaxing effect it gives on my eye area. With the kind of work I have, my eyes can look really tired and saggy. I use this every night before I go to sleep and it’s super easy to apply because of the roller tip. It’s not a cream at all, it has a watery/light consistency which is easy to spread. Just glide the roller very lightly around your eye area and leave it there overnight. I like how it made my eyes less puffy and although my dark circles are still there, I can say that I’m loving this product already. My dark circles are deep cos of my genes, maybe? I also have wrinkles and fine lines even at a young age, again cos of genes? Talk about blaming the genes. haha. But let’s see in the long run if this product will help lighten those problem areas I’ve mentioned. Cos it may be too early to tell.

Skin Genie Pit Perfect Underarm Whitening Scrub – PHP 200.00

Skin Genie Pit Perfect Underarm Whitening Scrub

Skin Genie Pit Perfect Underarm Whitening Scrub is a whitening scrub that brightens and smoothens the skin under the arms. This is from the Skin Genie brand. I haven’t tried this one yet so I can’t provide that much information for now. I’ll create a separate review about this together with the Skin Genie Pit Perfect Underarm Whitening Cream. My curiosity got me into ordering this because of the good reviews. I hope this will work like a charm too!

Skin Genie Pit Perfect Underarm Whitening Cream – PHP 200.00

Skin Genie Pit Perfect Underarm Whitening Cream

Skin Genie Pit Perfect Underarm Whitening Cream is a whitening cream that gently lightens dark underarms. As mentioned earlier, I haven’t tried this one too. But I have high expectation for this product as it was part of the 2016 BeautyMNL awards. The award goes to show the number of people ordering and liking this product from the shopping website.

Beach Born Bam Balm – PHP 168.00

Beach Born Bam Balm

Beach Born Bam Balm is an all-natural edible scrub for softer, smoother lips. I can tell so many positive things about this product. This is THE BOMB when it comes to moisturizing and hydrating your lips! Eversince I tried this lip product, I’m no longer afraid of trying out matte liquid lipsticks which we all know have the tendency to make our lips super dry. It helped reduce the lines on my lips which are due to excessive dryness and peeling. I love the minty scent, for sure! It doesn’t have that greasy/oily feeling that other lip balms leave you with. This instantly became part of my HOLY GRAIL! I’m not even exaggerating.

LA Palette Nudes in Nude Beige – PHP 800.00

LA Palette Nudes Nude Beige Review

LA Palette Nudes Nude Beige BeautyMNL

Remember my birthday wish list? I’m happy that I finally got my hands on the LA Palette Nudes in Nude Beige even though it came a bit late from my exact birthday. I thought of writing a separate review post about this eyeshadow palette but my hands were so itchy to try it out! I love the pigmentation and the color selection of this palette! The colors are very wearable, of course, because they are in the nude shades. I might still do a review-slash-makeup-look using this palette from L’oreal Paris. I don’t regret ordering this despite it being the most expensive of all the products I got from BeautyMNL. It’s so worth it.

My overall shopping experience was AMAZING! It took me quite a while to decide which products to add and remove from the cart. I have this habit of reading lots of reviews prior to buying because just like anybody else, I can’t afford to waste money even if they’re given for free. I just have to choose wisely! I browsed BeautyMNL several times until I found myself reading articles from their BLOOM Online Magazine. In BLOOM, you’ll find tons of well-written articles from beauty, makeup, skincare, tips, and reviews. You’ll definitely learn a lot from the Bloom Team!

Disclaimer: I did not receive any form of monetary compensation to promote these products and the website. However, I did receive credits to be used to test run the shopping website. All opinions are mine, based on my own thoughts, experience, and product usage.

Many successful share common traits and one of them is their love for reading books. They reserve at least an hour of their day for reading various materials from books to magazines to autobiographies to scientific articles. The advent of gadgets put a halt on many people’s reading habit. But this shouldn’t happen as there are online articles as well. Of course, reading an actual book isn’t comparable to reading online, but the latter is better than not reading at all. Here are reasons why you should add reading to your daily activities:

  1. Accomplished individuals around the world read as part of their regular practice to stay on top of their game. Mark Cuban, Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, Oprah, and Elon Musk among many others all read a lot. Warren Buffett, one of the richest persons in the world described his day as simply sitting on his office and reading all day. In fact, he estimated that he currently spends 80% of his day reading and creating ideas.

  2. You get tools for solving your problems when you read. Modern life is full of problems, so wouldn’t it be better if we could get rid of some of them? With reading, we gain the right tools, knowledge, and the know-how to solve most of our problems. For example, if you have insomnia, you can read books on how to deal with this sleep disorder. There’s always a book for whatever you’re currently struggling with.

  3. You can reach your goals with the help of reading. So you want to be rich, travel the world, be famous, be more confident, or build a house? There are more than enough books out there that you can read to achieve your goals.

  4. Reading is inspiring. This is especially true as you read about other people and their achievements. It can be inspiring and motivating to learn about what they did to make the world a better place. Read about Gandhi, Mandela, or Lincoln among other extraordinary people. These people though weren’t born special, but they got to where they were because of hard work, will, perseverance, and dedication. Even reading fiction books can help, especially in improving brain function and connectivity.

Reading is powerful as it can actually change our beliefs and mindsets – in a positive way. From objective physical reactions to happiness to long-term health, and to success, reading can help shape our reality. We can read anywhere – even in bed. Experts suggest having a good mattress to begin your reading in bed, especially if you’re a heavy person. But as long as you are comfortable, you can read a book to gain new information and insight.
