A few minutes ago, I was thinking of writing something about my previous half-marathon run, that is, the Run United 3. It happened last October 3 and marked as the best race I’ve gone so far. By best, I mean the fastest time I’ve gone to finishing a half marathon. I was trying to compose my words when I remembered I didn’t have any decent photos taken during the race, so I needed to scratch that off and start this new topic instead. Still race related, anyway! So yep, we joined another race few weeks after Run United 3. It was On Your Mark Leg 3 by Affinitea Race last October 23. Guess what made this different? It was freaking 25km!!!
No sarcasm and exaggeration included but, the additional 4-kilometers is a big deal when you have a body and stamina like mine. Every kilometer counts when your body is all exhausted, when you’re running out of breath, when your legs are breaking down and all you have is your heart and brain that tell you to go another kilometer. I don’t want to make an excuse but I was a bit melodramatic the night before the race until few minutes after the gun start. I wasn’t in my best condition both emotionally and physically. I had my monthly visit, and you know girls how dizzy and irritated we can be on these days. Good thing I felt a lot better an hour before I got myself to the finish line, I ran my heart out!
I and Jhori usually run side by side during events like this so we could talk and cheer each other up in case we need it. Then here’s what happened, it was still very dark in the morning and I was trying my best to run as much as I could. I stopped and looked around, but Jhori wasn’t there. I don’t know if I’ll run faster or run slower because I didn’t know where he really was. He was just there and suddenly he wasn’t! In short, I ran by myself for almost 2 hours while thinking where he got the nerves to leave me! Until someone tapped me on my back and it was him! It was funny how we looked and questioned each other where the other went! We were thinking the exact same thing the whole time and we realized it was dark in the area and a lot of runners were there that it was really possible to be lost from your running buddy. It was crazy, I know! Frustration became laughter in split second!
This is my longest run to date and I’m more than happy to bring another finisher medal home! Congratulations to all runners who participated and completed On Your Mark Trilogy! We should have been one of them if we didn’t miss the OYM Leg 1! Oh regrets!
