Yaowarat Thai Kway Chap: Street-style Thai Cuisine

Yaowarat Thai Kway Chap

One thing I miss the most about Thailand is its authentic Thai cuisine. So when Circuit Breaker Phase 1 has been lifted, Yaowarat Thai Kway Chap was the first food place I visited and chose to dine in here in Singapore. We visited their branch in Holland Village for our lunch and it did not disappoint us.

Yaowarat Thai Kway Chap is popular for its signature dish, Kway Chap. Their version of Kway Chap has a hearty-peppery based soup with braised meats and veggies.

We weren’t feeling like we wanted a soup back then so we skipped their signature Kway Chap which I feel like it wasn’t a good idea. lol! But I’m up to come back anytime to give it a try. So let’s save this dish for later.

While we skipped Kway Chap, we managed to try a bunch from their side dishes and paired it with white rice, cos you know, I’m such an avid rice-eater!

What to try?

If you’re into sweet sausages, then here’s the thinly sliced Thai Fish Sausage (SGD 6.00 – large) to give a try. It reminds me of the Filipino-style sweet sausages back home but with a different texture. Many people I know aren’t much of a fan of sweet sausages. If you’re one, then just skip this dish and move on to the next.

I enjoyed eating this Fried Large Intestine (SGD 10.00 – large). It tasted as if it was well-cleaned (cos you can tell) and well-cooked. It’s crispy at first bite but softer as you go along.

I can skip Thai Fried Beancurd (SGD 4.00) next time. I feel like it’s just a regular fried tofu which I’m not super fan of. While I admit I like how soft it is from the inside, I don’t think I would crave for this anytime soon.

This Deep Fried Thai Pork Belly (SGD 10.00 – large) is a MUST-TRY dish that topped the others. I’m saying, this might just become my favorite dish among the others we tried. It’s crunchy, tender and flavourful. It goes perfectly good with their chilli, garlicky, sweet sauce. Oh I just love their sauce!

Serving size was consistently generous among all the dishes including Thai Mid Wing (SGD 10.00 – large). It was cooked so good that it wasn’t too salty or oily either.
